Nato summit: Trump says US ready to offer security guarantees to Ukraine and claims Russia ‘going to make a deal’ – Europe live

According to The Guardian, President Trump says the United States is ready to offer security guarantees to Ukraine, and claims Russia is, in his words, "going to make a deal" to end the war. Speaking at the NATO summit after meeting with President Zelenskyy, Trump said a lot of progress had been made toward ending the conflict. In the same appearance he praised Turkey's president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and the country's military strength, and then, unprompted, offered praise for China as well. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte closed the briefing by noting he would hold his own press conference, if anyone was interested.
