Trump's NATO trouble tour

According to Axios, President Trump upended NATO's annual summit within hours of landing in Turkey, threatening allies and declaring the Iran ceasefire over as Washington and Tehran edged back toward war. In Ankara, he threatened to cut off all trade with Spain for refusing U.S. use of its bases, called talks with Tehran a waste of time, revived his demand to acquire Greenland, and floated pulling all American soldiers out of Europe. Still, members reaffirmed their commitment to collective defense and pledged support for Ukraine. In the summit's most concrete outcome, Trump told President Zelensky the U.S. would license Ukraine to build its own Patriot air-defense interceptors. Axios notes the harder shift to shrug off is the ongoing drawdown of U.S. troops in Europe — the biggest change in the continent's defense posture since the Cold War.
