Scoop: SpaceXAI launches new model, Grok 4.5

ai

According to Axios, Elon Musk's SpaceXAI has launched Grok 4.5, which it calls its smartest model yet and its first release since the company went public and acquired the AI coding startup Cursor. The model is being pitched less as a consumer chatbot and more as a coding and agentic-work tool, with Musk claiming it is, in his words, maximally truth-seeking. The company says Grok 4.5 was trained alongside Cursor and outperforms comparable models on engineering and knowledge work, describing it as Opus-class but faster, more token-efficient, and cheaper. It's priced at two dollars per million input tokens and six dollars per million output tokens, against five dollars and twenty-five dollars for Anthropic's Opus 4.8. Axios notes SpaceXAI concedes the new Grok still trails its rivals' largest, latest models, though Musk expects to surpass them soon. The model is available today in Grok Build, in Cursor, and from the SpaceXAI console, but not yet in the EU.
