Mahmood to close loophole blocking deportation of Rochdale grooming gang ringleader

According to The Guardian, home secretary Shabana Mahmood is planning to change the law to clear the way for deporting Shabir Ahmed, the ringleader of the Rochdale grooming gang. Mahmood is expected to amend the nineteen seventy-one Immigration Act, which currently blocks Ahmed's removal from Britain. The Guardian notes that hurdles would remain even after the change, since Pakistan has so far refused to take him back.
