Russia says Kostiantynivka has fallen. Kyiv claims it still holds the city. Both are wrong.

Both Russia and Ukraine are claiming control of Kostiantynivka, a contested city in Ukraine's Donetsk region. Vladimir Putin told Donald Trump that his forces have captured it. Ukraine's military says they still hold it. According to Meduza, though, the reality is more complicated. Russian forces haven't taken the city outright, but Ukraine doesn't fully control it either. Ukrainian troops do hold positions there, including in the city center, but their overall situation in the Donbas continues to deteriorate.
