Britain's foreign affairs select committee is recommending that parliamentary MPs be given veto power over ambassador appointments. According to The Guardian, the proposal follows the controversial appointment of Peter Mandelson as Britain's top diplomat in Washington. The committee called his selection 'nothing short of disastrous' and said it was highly damaging to the government and caused pain to victims of Jeffrey Epstein.
