According to The Guardian, Australia's political fallout from Telstra's nationwide outage is intensifying. Opposition leader Angus Taylor has defended his shadow communications minister, Sarah Henderson, who made what were described as unnecessary calls to the triple-zero emergency line during the outage to test whether it was working. Taylor said she was simply doing her job. He also played down a claim by Liberal senator Kerrynne Liddle that an elderly person died as a result of the outage, which struck on Wednesday. South Australian police, who initially said they were unaware of any such death, are now investigating.
