Announcing our $160M grant from Coefficient Giving

According to the AI Alignment Forum, an alignment research organization called Resolution — formerly known as Sequent — has announced a one hundred sixty million dollar grant from the funder Coefficient Giving. The money is structured as a one hundred eight million dollar base, plus fifty-two million dollars more that's conditional on hiring success and compute needs. Resolution's stated aim is to put rigorous alignment research on closer to even footing with the frontier AI labs, which it argues are building superintelligence far faster and with far deeper pockets. The group says frontier models have finally become capable enough to help automate alignment theory itself, and it's now hiring researchers, engineers, and operators to, in its words, make the race between rigor and danger a fairer fight.
