VW faces protests in Germany over proposed job cuts and factory closures

According to The Guardian, Volkswagen is facing protests across Germany as it puts a radical transformation plan to its supervisory board. Europe's biggest carmaker is proposing to cut up to one hundred thousand jobs and close factories. The influential staff union, IG Metall, has organized demonstrations at eighteen sites, including company headquarters, warning chief executive Oliver Blume that he cannot pass the buck for the failures of recent years onto the workforce.
