business
According to France 24, Italy's second-largest bank, UniCredit, is closing in on a takeover of Germany's second-largest lender, Commerzbank, after announcing it has secured forty-seven point six percent of Commerzbank's shares. The bid faces broad opposition inside Germany, including from the federal government, which itself holds a twelve percent stake in the bank. France 24 also notes that new so-called freedom fuel filling stations are opening across the United States, selling cheaper petrol with strong backing from the White House.
