Trump immigration cuts could worsen US caregiver shortage, experts say

politics

According to The Guardian, a US supreme court ruling in late June cleared the way for the Trump administration to strip temporary protected status from Haitian and Syrian workers — and experts warn the move could deepen the country's caregiver shortage. Many of those workers serve as nurses, aides, and home care providers, exactly the roles already stretched thin. The Guardian notes the US is aging faster than at any point in more than a century, with over twenty percent of the population projected to be sixty-five or older by twenty thirty, even as the supply of caregivers fails to keep pace.
