Farage launches preemptive attack on Commons standards committee, claiming it won’t judge him fairly – UK politics live

politics

According to The Guardian, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has gone on the offensive against the Commons standards committee before it rules on whether he broke parliamentary rules. In a Daily Mail interview, Farage argued the committee cannot judge him fairly, claiming some of its members had previously reported him for Islamophobia and that any verdict would be subjective rather than objective. He framed the preemptive move as an attempt to break what he called a coordinated media pile-on that had left him paralyzed while awaiting the parliamentary commissioner's findings on a donation under investigation. Farage also criticized Labour and the Conservatives for declining to field candidates in the Clacton byelection, accusing both of showing contempt for voters in what he insists is a real contest.
