A vitamin A discovery is changing what scientists know about vision

science

According to ScienceDaily, researchers have discovered something surprising about how your eyes develop before birth. Blue cone cells don't migrate away from the center of the retina as scientists thought. Instead, vitamin A-related signals and thyroid hormones cause them to transform into red and green cones. This finding could improve lab-grown retinal tissue and open the door to future cell therapies that restore vision lost to age-related eye diseases.
