Bayeux Tapestry's Norman conquest story crosses the Channel for the first time
world
According to RFI English, the Bayeux Tapestry is about to leave France for England for the very first time. The sixty-eight-metre embroidered chronicle — stitched in wool not long after the Norman conquest it depicts — will cross the Channel within days, according to the official overseeing the move. Fittingly for a treasure nearly a thousand years old, it's travelling under cover of darkness and heavy police guard on its way to London.
