Barcelona registers highest temperature in 112 years as French nuclear reactor shuts down due to extreme heat – Europe live

world

According to The Guardian, Barcelona has logged its highest temperature in one hundred and twelve years, part of a heatwave gripping western Europe after its warmest June on record. Some weather stations in Spain hit as high as forty-four degrees Celsius, and in France a nuclear reactor was shut down because of the extreme heat. The reach is spreading north, too: Ireland's national forecaster, Met Éireann, has issued a high-temperature warning for a dozen counties, with daytime highs expected above twenty-seven degrees and overnight temperatures staying above fifteen. The agency cautioned about water safety, heat stress, and uncomfortable sleeping conditions.
