‘New terrifying levels’: 10 people fatally shot by immigration officials in Trump’s second term

politics

According to The Guardian, at least ten people have been fatally shot by U.S. immigration officials since the start of Donald Trump's second term. The latest is fifty-two-year-old Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, who left home early Tuesday, picked up three co-workers, and drove toward a construction site. He never arrived. During what officials described as a targeted enforcement operation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers shot and killed Salgado and arrested the three other men. The Guardian frames the killing as part of an intensifying immigration crackdown, with critics warning that enforcement has reached, in their words, new and terrifying levels.
