According to Variety, the New York Times and several other news outlets have filed a motion for sanctions against OpenAI, accusing the company of lying during the discovery phase of their copyright lawsuit. The plaintiffs, which include the Times and the Daily News, say OpenAI concealed for more than two years that it had the ability to search the training datasets and output logs behind its models, even as the outlets sought those very documents. The motion asks the court to impose legal penalties on the AI company over the alleged concealment.
