entertainment

According to France 24, the Welsh pop star Bonnie Tyler has died at the age of seventy-five. Best known for her nineteen eighty-three chart-topping power ballad "Total Eclipse of the Heart," the gravelly-voiced, Grammy-nominated singer passed away in a hospital in Portugal following an illness. France 24 reports she had undergone emergency intestinal surgery in May. Her distinctive raspy voice, the outlet notes, was itself the result of an accident, after she did not rest enough following an operation to remove nodules on her vocal cords.
