According to The Guardian, harrowing testimony has emerged in the trial over the murder of Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. A witness told the court that moments before the explosion that killed her, Caruana Galizia screamed in panic. She was killed in twenty seventeen by a remotely detonated bomb placed under the driver's seat of her car, after publishing a series of reports on political and financial corruption in Malta. The government's handling of the investigation triggered mass protests and ultimately led to the resignation of the prime minister, Joseph Muscat. A businessman now stands trial, accused of ordering the killing.
