Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s No. 2 Executive, to Step Down to Focus on Recovery From Chronic Illness

According to Variety, Fidji Simo, OpenAI's second-ranking executive and its CEO of Applications, is stepping down from her full-time role. Simo said in a note posted to X on Thursday that the decision follows a three-month medical leave she took after a severe worsening of a chronic illness she has lived with for years, and that she now wants to focus on her recovery.
