Fidji Simo, OpenAI's head of product and business, has stepped down due to a worsening chronic condition. According to Axios, Simo experienced a severe exacerbation of POTS — Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome — a condition she was diagnosed with in twenty nineteen. She took medical leave in April, during which OpenAI President Greg Brockman assumed her responsibilities. Simo, who joined OpenAI in twenty twenty-five after leading Instacart through its IPO and spending more than a decade at Meta, will remain with the company as a part-time advisor. She expressed optimism about AI's potential in healthcare.
