A parasite is giving 1,000+ Americans 'explosive' diarrhea

According to Boing Boing, more than one thousand Americans have contracted cyclosporiasis, an intestinal parasite infection. In Michigan alone, cases have jumped from about fifty per year to nearly one thousand—part of a nationwide spike with an unknown source. The infection typically causes severe gastrointestinal symptoms and is treatable with antibiotics.
