According to The Guardian, the New South Wales government and police spent almost half a million dollars in legal fees on court cases they lost against pro-Palestine groups. Documents obtained under freedom of information laws show more than one hundred seventeen thousand dollars went to a single, unsuccessful challenge defending public assembly restriction laws. Those restrictions were rushed through after the Bondi beach attack and were in force during a February rally against the Israeli president, Isaac Herzog. The Guardian reports the protest laws are now expected to be struck down.
