Weather tracker: Typhoon leaves people stranded on rooftops in China

world

According to The Guardian, Typhoon Maysak, the first to make landfall in China this season, has brought devastating flooding across the country's southern and central regions. Guangxi saw downpours of up to two hundred eighty millimeters in twelve hours, swelling rivers and breaking dam walls, and by Monday morning residents across the city of Nanning were stranded on rooftops. At least eleven people are reported dead. The floodwaters carry an added hazard: hundreds of snakes, including cobras, have escaped from inundated breeding farms. The storm also fueled two tornadoes that tore across central China, while heavy rain brought building collapses in Mumbai.
