This common pesticide may be quietly wiping out future bumblebees
science
According to ScienceDaily, researchers have discovered that sulfoxaflor, a pesticide used to control crop pests, may be harming the bumblebees that pollinate our food. Low-dose exposure altered gene activity specifically in bee reproductive tissues, raising concerns about future population impacts. Since pollinators account for roughly one-third of global food production, the finding underscores a growing challenge: protecting crops from pests without inadvertently harming the insects agriculture depends on.
