According to The Guardian, protests have engulfed the Indian state of West Bengal following the rape and murder of an eleven-year-old girl. Outrage erupted after her body was recovered from a pond in a town just outside the state capital, Kolkata. The Guardian reports that tensions escalated further after a mob lynched an innocent man, and police killed one of the accused in the case.
