Trump says Iran talks will continue, but "ceasefire is OVER"
politics
President Trump announced on Friday that while the United States will continue talks with Iran, the country will no longer adhere to a previously agreed ceasefire. According to Axios, Trump posted on Truth Social that Iran asked for continued discussions, and the U.S. agreed—but stated in no uncertain terms that the ceasefire is over. The announcement follows two days of de-escalation efforts by regional mediators, including Qatari negotiators who visited Iran on Friday to meet with officials and encourage negotiations to resume. A diplomat told Axios that both sides appear interested in returning to previous agreements, with another round of talks expected in Switzerland next week.
