What has caused ‘unprecedented’ deadly wildfire in southern Spain?
world
According to The Guardian, a fast-moving wildfire has killed at least twelve people in Almería, in southern Spain, with many of the victims trapped in their cars as they tried to flee the flames. The blaze tore through roughly three thousand eight hundred hectares on Thursday, and authorities say eight people were injured while twenty-three remain unaccounted for. The Guardian reports the fire was intensified by extreme heat, strong winds, and abundant dry vegetation, a hazard worsened by the steady hollowing out of the region's rural population.
