‘Weaker’? Mojtaba Khamenei’s absence from father’s funeral may signal shifting role for Iran leader

world

According to France 24, Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared in public since he was wounded in the US-Israeli air strikes that killed his father and his wife. He was absent even from the week-long funeral ceremonies held this week. France 24 reports that while his injuries and the threat of assassination may explain his disappearance, analysts suggest it could also point to a shifting, and possibly weakened, role for the country's top position.
