On Friday, Apple sued OpenAI for trade secret theft, alleging the company stole confidential product information from current and former employees. Axios reports the lawsuit names two individuals: Chang Liu, a former Apple senior engineer who retained his work laptop and allegedly accessed Apple's cloud storage after joining OpenAI, downloading dozens of confidential files; and Tang Tan, now OpenAI's chief hardware officer, accused of using Apple code names to recruit Apple staff and sharing Apple security documents to help new hires evade exit procedures. Per Axios, Apple also alleges OpenAI shared trade secrets with external partners, misleading them about having Apple's permission. Apple says over four hundred former employees are now at OpenAI.
