Venezuela quake death toll passes 4,300 as scale of recovery effort looms large

world

The death toll from Venezuela's twin earthquakes has now passed four thousand three hundred, The Guardian reports. Venezuela's government said at least four thousand three hundred thirty-three people were killed and nearly sixteen thousand seven hundred forty injured in the back-to-back quakes on the twenty-fourth of June, which flattened entire districts in the coastal state of La Guaira. Thousands more remain listed as missing, and both President Delcy Rodríguez and the United Nations are calling for financial help as the scale of the recovery effort comes into focus.
