Clive Davis, the record executive whose ear for talent defined pop music for half a century, died at ninety-four at his home in Manhattan. According to Variety, Davis spent his career at the helm of Columbia, Arista, and J Records, shepherding some of the industry's biggest names to stardom across rock, pop, and R&B.
