US launches strikes as Iran says Strait of Hormuz is closed

ABC News reports that the United States has launched strikes after Iran declared the Strait of Hormuz closed once again. Iran said it considered the strait shut after a vessel used what it called an unauthorised route, prompting the Revolutionary Guard to fire on the ship. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical oil shipping routes, connecting the Persian Gulf to the open sea.
