According to The Hollywood Reporter, Madonna's biopic fell apart at Universal because of budget disagreements. With actress Julia Garner attached to play the pop icon, Madonna and the studio couldn't find agreement on the film's budget. Madonna explained that she needed a bigger budget for the project to move forward.
