‘I felt dizzy’: bodybuilder recalls how drug abuse caught up with him

The Guardian reports on Jamie Mantzouridis, a bodybuilder who used steroids, growth hormones and insulin until the side effects became impossible to ignore. He recalls being small and self-conscious growing up, and when he started training seriously in his early twenties, he noticed much larger men at the gym who told him they were taking steroids. He says he was young and fearless the first time, getting someone else to inject him even as his mind raced with worries about hitting an artery or an air bubble.
