Researchers at the University of Alabama in Huntsville have found that a simple, non-invasive ultrasound treatment may help injured joints heal and prevent arthritis. ScienceDaily reports that continuous low-intensity ultrasound encourages immune cells called macrophages to shift from an inflammatory state toward one that supports tissue repair. The discovery could one day offer a preventive approach to stopping arthritis before it starts.
