US politicians and foreign leaders pay tribute to Lindsey Graham

The Guardian reports that Republican senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has died at the age of seventy-one, following a sudden illness. Tributes poured in from across the political spectrum and beyond. President Donald Trump, a close ally, called Graham one of the greatest senators he had ever known and a true American patriot. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was deeply saddened by the death. The Guardian notes Graham was known for his hawkish stance on Iran and his role in shaping a more conservative US Supreme Court.
