Nancy Mace eyes run for Lindsey Graham's Senate seat

Axios reports that Republican Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina is strongly considering a run for the U.S. Senate. The move follows the sudden death of Senator Lindsey Graham, who Axios says passed away late Saturday after what his office called a brief and sudden illness. Because Graham was up for reelection, a special election is set for August eleventh to choose a new Republican nominee, with Governor Henry McMaster able to name an interim replacement in the meantime. The eventual primary winner will face Democratic candidate Annie Andrews, a doctor, in November. Mace has sought this seat once before, challenging Graham back in twenty fourteen.
