Trump rejects Iran’s strait of Hormuz closure claim as fight for control goes on

world

A ceasefire between the United States and Iran is on the verge of collapse after nearly a week of tit-for-tat strikes across the Gulf. The Guardian reports that President Trump has rejected Tehran's claim to have closed the strait of Hormuz, as both sides fight for control of the vital waterway. US Central Command said American forces hit one hundred forty targets in Iran over Saturday night and Sunday morning, including missile and drone sites, naval facilities, ammunition depots, and communications networks, after Iran struck and disabled a container ship whose passage through the strait it said had not been approved.
