Iran expands attacks on Gulf states after intense US strikes

The confrontation between Iran and the United States is widening. Iran reported strikes Sunday evening on two of its southern islands, while Kuwait said border posts and an offshore oil platform had been hit — sites where, France 24 notes, Tehran has repeatedly targeted US installations. The strikes remain unclaimed. They came hours after Iran and Washington traded contradicting statements over whether the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping waterway, was open to traffic.
