Trump renews Iran blockade and again threatens to take control of strait of Hormuz
world
President Donald Trump has again threatened to seize control of the strait of Hormuz, the narrow shipping passage that carries a large share of the world's oil. The Guardian reports that he announced a renewed naval blockade on Iran and demanded a twenty percent tariff on all cargo moving through the waterway. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump declared the strait open and suggested the United States be known as the Guardian of the Strait of Hormuz. The move comes as Iran and the US trade some of the heaviest drone and missile fire since an interim deal was reached to wind down the conflict.
