Lai Tak Tsuen Estate in Hong Kong
other
Per Atlas Obscura, Lai Tak Tsuen Estate is one of Hong Kong's first public housing developments, built in nineteen seventy-five. Spread across its tower blocks are twenty-six hundred dwellings housing eleven thousand residents. The estate stands out for its bicylindrical towers—each with an open-air circular atrium extending unobstructed from ground to rooftop, creating a striking optical effect. Angled corridors and triangular staircases add to its futuristic look, distinctive enough to feature in the twenty seventeen Ghost in the Shell live-action adaptation.
