Atlas Obscura highlights the Hoffmann Kiln in Langcliffe, a Victorian marvel and the best-preserved example of its kind in England. Constructed in eighteen seventy-three and operational until nineteen thirty-one, the kiln was positioned next to the Settle-Carlisle railway for convenient limestone transport. Today, this industrial relic serves as the centerpiece of an archaeology trail at the base of Stainforth Scar in Yorkshire Dales National Park.
