Mahmood offers Farage security meeting after Ann Widdecombe’s death
politics
The Guardian reports that the UK home secretary, Shabana Mahmood, has offered Nigel Farage a personal meeting with the Home Office unit responsible for protecting high-profile politicians. The offer came as she addressed the House of Commons following the death of Ann Widdecombe, the Reform spokesperson whose body was found with serious injuries by the ambulance service at her home in Devon. Mahmood insisted that all sitting MPs are treated equally in how protection is offered, but said the case raised questions about the security of former MPs and politicians from smaller parties, including those not in parliament.
