Tice finally gauges the mood on the death of Ann Widdecombe | John Crace

politics

The Guardian reports that MPs gathered in the Commons to pay tribute to Ann Widdecombe, the former British MP whose death is being treated as murder. Deputy Reform leader Richard Tice joined others in offering condolences rather than speculation, after what the paper described as a wild attack on the media. Police have asked everyone to refrain from guessing at the suspect's motives, and, as of Monday lunchtime, a person was still being questioned by counter-terrorism officers. Even Nigel Farage, the Reform UK leader, has fallen silent for now.
