UK’s alcohol-free beer boom threatened by regulations, trade body warns
business
Britain's alcohol-free beer market is booming. According to the Guardian, the British Beer and Pub Association reports more than sixty-four million pints are forecast for sale this summer—up eight million from last year. The BBPA cites those figures as proof the category is here to stay, not a passing fad. But the industry faces regulatory headwinds: alcohol-free beer is legally defined as containing no more than zero point zero five percent alcohol. The BBPA is pushing to raise that threshold to zero point five percent, arguing the current standard is too restrictive.
