The Guardian reports the UK government is closing asylum hotels and moving residents to military barracks and other shared housing, following anti-migrant protests. Huda, a forty-one-year-old engineering graduate from Tunisia who fled death threats, and her two children, aged ten and twelve, had six months to settle before receiving just days' notice of the move. Complaints had claimed hotel accommodation was too luxurious for asylum seekers—but now legal challenges are questioning whether these new arrangements meet adequacy standards.
