The Guardian reports that Sam Neill, the actor whose work spanned Australian and global cinema, has died at the age of seventy-eight. Director George Miller paid tribute to him, remembering Neill as comprehensively an amazing person who lived life fully and with a great deal of wisdom. As Miller tells it, while Neill was very much part of the global film industry, he remained at heart a Kiwi who never pretended to be from anywhere else, and he left a significant mark on Australian cinema.
