Robert Jenrick criticises government for not offering Nigel Farage earlier security meeting

politics

The Guardian reports that Robert Jenrick has criticised the government for failing to offer Reform UK leader Nigel Farage a security meeting sooner. Jenrick, Reform's Treasury spokesperson, said ministers had denied Farage the protection he needed, and only agreed to arrange talks with the chair of the Royal and VIP Executive Committee — the body responsible for safeguarding high-profile figures — as a result of the death of Ann Widdecombe. He framed that meeting as coming too late, prompted by her killing rather than offered in advance.
