UK to continue sending potential trafficking victims to France despite court ruling
politics
The UK Home Office plans to keep sending asylum seekers to France without checking whether they have been trafficked, even after a court found that approach unlawful. The Guardian reports that a high court judge ruled last week against the home secretary's policy of stripping protections from potential trafficking victims earmarked for forced removal under the government's so-called one in, one out scheme. Home Office sources told the paper that operational activity could continue regardless, because examining these claims can delay a removal to France by at least thirty days.
